Owners Teddy and Alexis Vejar wanted a creative overhaul of their popular Mexican street food restaurant/brand after a fire shut their doors in July of 2020. After helping them search for a new space, they tapped me as lead designer, stylist and fabricator on this art-focused, experiential taqueria, including a new/renovated space, interiors, finishes, furniture and fixtures.  

I led the project as art director/designer, acted as GC/PM, fabricated and installed all of the custom furniture, fixtures, wallpaper, and finishes, and created a 28' x 9' custom wall mural using an original collage of found ephemera scanned and printed to room scale. I also collaborated to redesign the website, and contributed video, photography, social media content, and custom sound design.

The Pearl Club Chicago is a luxe and moody, London-inspired cocktail lounge situated in a historic flatiron building in Chicago's West Town neighborhood. Tom Kehoe was the principal designer for this project, and I worked directly under him interfacing with contractors and clients (Rob Katz (BoKa Group) and Matt Ruder) to implement his velvet clad vision.

As design construction project manager, I contributed to the design ideation and development, and led the project from both a design and construction POV, ensuring the final product met the expectations of both our principal designer and the end client while adhering to city codes and construction standards. I styled art and furniture, managed painters, builders, custom furniture fabricators, artists, and a team of installers to bring this former dive bar to life.
