ABOUT ME

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m inspired by contrast, color, surprise, detail, human imperfection, human interaction, connectivity.

I create performative spaces and interactive experiments inspired by architecture, sound, and movement. My process is deeply physical, and is informed by structured improvisation, collaboration, collection, collage, and exploring space utilizing techniques from across the arts: traditional studio art, theatre, music, and filmmaking. I'm deeply interested in 'what’s next?' within the realms of public/environmental performance, interactive art, interior design, and experiential installation.

My work explores the self, urbanity, nostalgia, camp, 1990s DIY values, the body as object, and post WWII consumerism. I draw inspiration from outsider art, the rise of social media, and the tension between high art, pop culture, the counterculture, and literal trash.

experimental micro short film: Magic//Mirror

'A peephole, spyhole, doorhole, magic eye, magic mirror or door viewer, is a small, round opening through a door from which a viewer on the inside of a dwelling may "peek" too see directly outside the door. The lenses are arranged in such a way that viewing is only possible in one direction.'

'BLINK' is my first non-music related film, and in it, I explore the basic structure of Laban's 'movement sentences:' preparation, initiation, main action, follow through, transition, (repeat). I hope the simplicity of a single action--literally a blink of an eye--contrasted with the collage of sounds featuring paparazzi flashes and radio chatter, creates a commentary on the ‘state of things’ on an everyday, existential, human level.
